Got in contact with a lawyer for a consultation and the women on the phone wouldn’t even let me get a word in and got annoyed when I was trying to speak saying she didn’t have time. She kept saying she only has 30 seconds for me but continued to talk talk talk without even actually helping me.

I am a member. The City Bar hosts a number of cultural, legal events open to non-lawyers. These are posted on the website. For an attorney, membership is extremely valuable, since the Law Library's legal research resources are otherwise unmatched in the City, except at a law school. There are Lexis and Westlaw terminals and a wide variety of legal books on various areas. The committees serve both to suggest better law and better practice of law.

I'm not sure what they're expecting me to rate, since this isn't a public space, but the staff are friendly and accommodating, the bathrooms clean, and the catering for evening committee meetings most acceptable.

Nice old building tucked away in Midtown NYC. Really get a sense of history walking thru the halls and staircases. Our industry group meets there a few times per year and the building infrastructure has been modernized so its very pleasant place to have our events that usually have about 75 attendees - roomy, and no issues with heating or cooling which is impressive for such an old building.

Even if you have no business at this building, it's worth popping in to have a look at the beautiful lobby with all the marble columns. It's a stunner! From the website: "The new House was considerably larger and grander than its precursors: it stood six stories tall, included a meeting hall, a reception hall, a library of over 50,000 volumes, and three additional floors of offices. The entrance hall and first floor stairways were constructed of marble, and the second floor hallway, reception hall, and meeting hall of granite, marble, and mahogany. The Association opened the doors of its new House on October 8, 1896, with a gala of several thousand guests. The New York Times described it as “one of the most interesting and successful works of recent architecture…a work having the classical qualities of simplicity, purity, and serenity in a high degree.” "

I love the Bar. They've got great programming, and they go out of their way to try to help lawyers be successful in their careers, and to help further the legal profession. Facilities are excellent and comfortable, and their programs are top-notch, as I mentioned before. Such a great resource on so many levels.
